Explanation

How the Explosion of the Nagasaki-type Atomic Bomb Occurs

The nuclear material used in the Nagasaki atomic bomb was plutonium 239.The energy from the detonation of surrounding explosives compresses a spherical core (tamper) of plutonium 239 into a supercritical state in which nuclear fission occurs

The neutrons emitted by a neutron initiator implanted in the center trigger the nuclear fission of plutonium 239.

The many neutrons generated by nuclear fission caused a chain reaction, releasing tremendous energy in the form of blast, heatrays and radiation and destroying the city of Nagasaki.
