The mayor's message about the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Ruins designation as a historic site

Today, the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Ruins have been designated as a National Historic Site.

The role that the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Ruins fulfill as a storyteller has become even more important as memories of war fade away.

We will put our efforts together to preserve the site and inherit the reality of the bombing in cooperation with the locals and the government of Japan.

It is my wish that this designation will further convey the reality of the atomic bombing to many people and lead to foster the momentum towards the abolition of nuclear weapons.
