Damage from the Atomic Bombing

B-9 Dr. Takashi Nagai

The Achievements of Dr. Takashi Nagai

Takashi Nagai was exposed to the atomic bomb at the Nagasaki Medical College where he worked as an associate professor. Immediately after suffering a serious injury himself, he devotedly helped with the relief of casualties and research of atomic bomb disorders. His wish eventually changed from wanting to fulfill his role as a doctor, to wanting to restore Nagasaki’s town and culture, and to wish for peace. His leukemia, which he suffered from before the atomic bombing, got worse but even while on his sick bed, he continued his activities through writing. Takashi Nagai passed away six years after the atomic bombing but you can hear the sincere prayers for peace from his life.
